Overview
The Maplewood family paid around $310 a month for power and lost it twice during storm season. We fitted 28 high-efficiency panels with micro-inverters plus a 10 kWh battery — their bill is now the $12 grid connection fee.
The Challenge
A large oak shades the west roof after 3 pm, and the barrel-tile roof needed non-penetrating care on the curved sections. Our shade model split the array across three orientations to keep morning-to-evening production smooth.
Our Approach
- 28 × 410W panels with panel-level micro-inverters
- 10 kWh wall battery for overnight and outage cover
- Tile-safe mounting with flashed, warrantied penetrations
- Two-day install; family never lost power during the work
Results
First-year production beat our model by 4%. The battery has carried the home through three outages, and projected payback is under six years including the federal tax credit.
